Prospective Parent/Player,
I am very proud to be a part of the Team Fury organization. I am also truly impressed by all the help, dedication, ideas and effort from our group. We currently have 28 people working with this organization. It has truly been a pleasure to work with each and every one of them. I specifically want to recognize those who have all been instrumental in the development of this Non-Profit Organization.
One of the many goals of the Team Fury is to offer player development from the youngest ages, to the many aspects of sports and life as they anticipate attending college and possibly participating in collegiate athletics. This is a program for girls and expanding to include boys throughout its geographic areas.
We strongly encourage all our players to continue to play for their respective communities, travel teams and schools as we continue to help develop and play in various tournaments. We try our best to schedule all our tournaments and activities around these community based programs. We believe that being a part of the community is an important part of life.
Having coached at various levels throughout the last 18 years my players have achieved All League, MVP, All County, and All CIF and State Honors. However, these achievements are not as rewarding as seeing them move onto college for higher education.
Having raised 3 children (2 daughters) as a single parent, I understand the pressures of girls and young ladies today. My daughters have received many opportunities and successes in life, not just in basketball, but in other areas such as confidence, academics, goals, and life skills. Coaching is not only a hobby for me but also a desire to offer other boys and girls these same opportunities.
The Fury is not only a 501 (c) 3 Not for Profit Corporation, but is also registered member of AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and USA Volleyball. The parents of our athletes do not have to bear the full costs of all our expenses, as we anticipate raising over $30,000 this season to help offset various costs. Although all clubs appear to be expensive, I know having put two daughters through this; gym fees, travel expenses and other related costs are continuing to rise. As a Non Profit Corporation, we are willing to outline our Organizations costs.
The Fury also believes in offering opportunities to all males and females regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or financial situation. We offer NO full scholarships. We require at least some amount to be paid and a certain amount of fundraising activity to be performed. in some states we are not allowed to offer any scholarship opportunities to our athletes. In these cases we afford them the opportunity to Fundraise to help offset costs. All of our coaches are screened for felonies and checked in the sexual predator database. They are also required to pass certain tests and certifications as required by AAU, USA Volleyball, NCAA and various state regulations.
Team Fury is dedicated to making sure each player has a chance to develop the fundamentals and skills necessary to advance their game. We aim to help each player achieve her goal whether it is to make a varsity team, to become a better player or to earn an athletic scholarship. It is also a goal to be a competitive program at the highest levels of competition.
The future for Team Fury looks very bright as we have already seen a 100% growth in our program from last year! The Fury has extended coverage with the addition of the Website and a Program guide among other things. We anticipate our High School Girls Basketball Program to expand their travels next year to attend tournaments in 11 states next spring/summer season.
Thanks for your interest in Team Fury! Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions or suggestions. GO FURY! Mike Harris
